Does anyone know how to remove a steering wheel with an airbag? i know there are two screws at the back of the air bag, but i can't get the small wrench in to unscrew them . Any ideas?

make sure you remove the negative terminal on your battery and leave it for atleast 30minutes to get rid off all the charge in the car..
helpful if you dont want the airbag to go off
not sure about removing the wheel though

after disconecting the battering i'm syre you just carefully prise the centre bit from the steering wheel, disconect leads and then take off the big centre nut.

Carl. did you try the other way.. oh have you removed the cowling aswell, it might be easier to get to the screws

ha ha i've done all that, but the torx bit wont go into the hole bit as it's too wide. If you have a way of getting it of daz that would be great

i've only got the tool to pull the wheel of the spine and not to get the air bag off

me and a cousin drilled my airbag off., it was completely fucked in the end, it was only to fit the GSI steering wheel lol

butchered the steering wheel we had no idea idea how to get the airbag off at the time, only untill we had got it off my cousins neighbour (who is a mechanic) arrived and said. "WTF, why didnt you just undo the 2 torx screws at the back"

you need a long torx bit.can't remember what size though.

left it today as i had to fit the air filter pipe.
i've been told it's a T30, but i only have two T30's. One is a screw driver bit, which you can't get any grip with and the other is a wrench bit and it's to fat for the hole where the screw is

do you not have a screw driver extension bit you can fit it in . i have a set of long torx bits so it was easy

i used a standard alen key just be slow when turning worked for me disconeceted the leads, took main bolt of and pulled og with the tool job done lol, didnt disconect battery provbably lucky didnt go off lmao nvm
