Had the 20xe conversion in the Corsa for fair while with no problems. Bought the engine & F20 gearbox together from a guy who was fitting the lot into a corsa but never got round to it. As you can see from the pic the gear selector has been welded and extended, also looks like the top and bottom half are from different linkage. Came to fit an Mtech short shift, went in ok but the ball joint kept popping out in 1,3 & 5. Went to the scrap yard today and picked up a selector off another corsa and fitted it fine, its definately about 2cm shorter though without the weld but doesn't pop the ball joint off. Doesnt feel much of a shorter shift though  Any ideas why the old linkage has been welded and extended?

don't know why it has been extended, i'm sure they have to be shortened

thats not been extended...
its had a nova end welded on instead of the corsa one

So thats the right length for the Nova selector Ste (I know its hard to tell the lengh on the pic). The linkage I picked up from the scrap yard from a corsa is definately shorter but like you said its a different end to that of the corsa selector. Looks like the engine was going into a nova conversion then. Been using the selector like that as part of the Corsa conversion for awhile

unsure about the lengh...
this is what a usuall modded corsa one look's like, except this has been rose jointed...
