Im not sure, i thought they changed it so you cant use the "tax in post" excuse, even if it is?

Just use the car anyway, i used mine for a week waiting for insurance cover note to come through before i could tax it.

Dvla said this to me when I had my tax disk stolen even though dvla know you have paid and waiting you are still driving without displaying a valid tax disk regardless which is an offence

Your supposed to order it 5days before it runs out to allow for it so theres no excuses.

14 days grace for it according to the DVLA

I couldn't tax mine as I didn't have the paperwork back from taking the plate off, the girl said you have 14 days before you can get ticketed.

It's a service to enable you to tax it online the disc isn't online.saves having to go to the post office/DVLA.
i agree about displaying it but thats the law nothing you can do about it.i suppose it's there for traffic wardens and the like
