Hi guys, just want some advice did my first motorway journey after having my bumper sprayed three weeks ago, after i got back there are hundreds of chips all over it so went to the bodyshop and he said its going to happen

He wants another 100 pounds to spray it again which as you can understand im not pleased about... What would you guys do ?

Its obvious that the paint he is using is water based and not that strong, tell him to use some decent paint.

I feel your pain as the Astra VXR uses the same paint and the front bumper looks more like a 40k car than a 10k car.

i would take it to another bodyshop and get them to spray it again (like ollie said get them to use decent paint) - but i don't think you have a leg to stand on legally as it would be hard to prove that the bodyshop was at fault, as it's a natural occurrence, plus you've stated that you may be at fault anyways

havent told them that though Dom, hes sprayed some mirrors for me for free which most places would of charged 20 quid for so if you look at it that way i suppose 100 quid aint too bad, but its just the hassle of having to remove it all and then refit it the day before french car show !

surely it's not the quality of the paint but the amount of lacquer they use for the finish?! perhaps he's not putting enough layers on so the paint is more vulnerable?

not really, some painters can get as good a finish as solvent based paints, the same as some painters prefer 2k to cellulose.
