Please. I really really really really wanted to move into a flat in Masshouse in Birmingham, but they were all sold, and the final few remaining were being sold for nearlly £100k more than the rest of the properties in the surrounding area. The next phase is due for completion in 2010 so no good for me
BUT
I have found an apartment there which I think I can just afford

The next phast is being built behind the first phase - that's going to be all 1 bed, 2 bed and studios.
Phase three is being built on the opposite side of the Queensway in the car park. That's going to be a hotel, offices and retail - there are going to be shops and all sorts of other things. If you know the area there is a building called the McLaren Building which looks uber gash. They have bought that building and are cladding it to make it look like all the other new buildings. Going to be amazing when it's complete. Unfortunately, until then it's going to be a bit of a building site - but I guess it's worth it in an investment point of view.

Yea, it's got secure underground parking too which really justifies the greater expense of the place, that and the location, oh and the balcony!
Hope it works out, if not there are loads and loads of othe new places

Yea, they were just finishing them off in January. I watched them build that first one as I used to live in one of the buildings behind it. The main structure of it went up in something like 6 months
All the wall cladding on the outside came in and just bolted on. Was amazing to watch

It's under offer, but it seems that the person selling is selling 7 apartments in the same block! GREEDY
So there are others

Yeah I don't think its the time buy an apartment right now. If Brum is anything like Liverpool there is over-supply of similar properties and prices are not going up as fast as houses.

Lots of hype and really high prices... The bottom of the market is sure to fall out soon and prices of flats may even drop. I'm keeping an eye out

looks really nice that ed!
If Brum is going to be anything like the centre of Manchester then dont expect prices to drop anytime soon. There have been 1000's and 1000's of new apartments go up just in the 3yrs Ive lived here (and a hell of a lot more in the few years before) and its showing no signs of slowing and the prices just keep rising.

Yea, that could also be the case which would be annoying
Can't wait to move in, I haven't seen the final furnishing yet either so I am looking forward to that too

Yeah, but at the moment the current trend is inner-city living, and no matter how many apartments they are throwing up around Manchester they keep selling and prices keep rising. Supply will obviously lower prices in a normal environment, but with demand still on the increase too its making no difference.
This is for Manchester anyway, as I said before. I dont know if Brum is like this, so only Ed can figure this out.

Bastard landlord queezing every penny he can get
Phoned up and asked for more money - only £25 a week which is what I negociated off of the asking price, but I guess he knew I would agree to it because it's so hard finiding somewhere that price round here at the moment
His excuse was that it was going to cost him £8k to furnish the place. It better be good

I shall soon find out. I think I'll use this in an argument to make him get the place ready sooner. No date on it yet, but it needs to be soon because I am sick of living next to a prison bail hostel.
