Corsa C comes with 15" wheels 185/55/15.

Spare wheel is 14" but 175/65/14.

The rolling radius will be about the same as the wheels sidewall makes up for the smaller wheel size.

Width is only 10mm narrower.

Now I though it was illegal to fit different size wheels on the same axle? and all 4 tyres should be the same size?.

Why is the spare this way then or does the matching rolling radius make it legal?.

illegal but comes with the car as standard?. What use is that?. Are we supposed to use the spare as picnic table when out an about?

I'm sure if it's the OE spare, it's the exception to the rule.

its a "get you home wheel"
feel yourself lucky its not a skinny space saver limiting you to 50mph

That is my point have Vauxhall provided a wheel that if used will be illegal?. The normal space saver types have limitations and serve a purpose and are obviously a get me home. However the spare in this case is like a general tyre albeit on a steelie.

Spare is only used in an emergency, 175 and 185 barely much difference compared to a 185 and a space saver

Yeah there is no plan to use it other than a spare. However at least with a space saver people would be more inclined to get their own OE wheel sorted as with this spare it's practically a standard size and lazy arses will leave it on.

In my case I wish to fit the spare on the g/f's C so I can get her alloy refurbed and therefore need to drive around for a day or so on the spare. Yes the wheel is suitably ok but was wondering more of the legality side, hence the question.

Its an MOT fail but I'm sure its not illegal. There would be no temporary case which would permit it under Construction and Use regs although you potentially could be asked to get an MOT retest I would imagine.

It aint going be illegal though is it really, someone gets a flat then are forced to put on an illegal sized tyre from the factory. Not going to happen.

Its a tempory measure so i cant see a problem

You don't Kurt but if its present it must be roadworthy.

Plus we're talking about a roadwheel if when the car is presented it is fitted. I'm sure MOT regs state that your roadwheels - which these now are - must share a common tyre size across an axle.

Its not illegal to posses a bald spare tyre its only illegal to use it on the road.

Its not an MOT failiure last i heard about it anyway. You dont even need a spare for the MOT

It is illegal to be carrying a non-roadworthy spare and it is an MOT failure. The best thing to do is scrap it if it's bald.
