if you take the ecotec off is it exactly the same as a c20xe?
finding an xe is fairly hard

You can't 'take the ecotec off' and it's a different engine anyway, if you mean the X20XEV.

well thats not necessarily true, the common features of ecotecs such as secondary air pumps and exhaust gas recirculation valves can be removed, but that doesn't by any means make an X20XEV a C20XE

tbh just get the kit of someone for the conversion and buy a rebuilt xe, lots of people have sources to locate them

i was gonna rebuild the xe myself as it is cheaper. main reasonn i want the car is for brakes and that

some of you lot are like a bunch of teenage bitches, or still acting like them..
its my car, but i will be doing the conversion with someone who IS a mechanic and HAS completed a conversion before. I on the other hand am a MARINE engineer. i work for princess yachts. this means i build luxury yachts not cars and makes my car mechanics knowledge slightly lacking.
i know what a basic engine is like and can strip and rebuild one. but i dont know the ins and outs of all the different versions that come with it I.e. ecotec hence why i asked. i see two 2l 16vs and one has ecotec and the egr etc. who am i to know whether you can take the added piping off!
all i wanted was a yes or no to simple question

well i am an engineer so its not like i cant use tool buts i dont know much about cars. i could strip and rebuild the engine easy but when it comes to wiring looms and that i think ill be ogver my head
