Hi
Having sorted out the starting problem we now seem to have other problems.
Being simple but not stupid v I can not help feeling that trying to start the engine with no chip in the key (yes my son had lost it without knowing) would not bring on a throttle body fault we had seen no sign of before.
So I am guessing that it may still be electronic and codes connected but need advice.
The codes we now get are
1120 Throttle body malfunction whatever that means?
1405 We know there is no EGR some pillock has removed it!
1503 Imobiliser control unit (which has been checked out and works fine
0412 secondary solenoid valve This has me stumped!!!
Any help appreciated we have 3 days to fix it hopefully.assuming he passes his test!

0412-Thats probably a small grey valve, that has vacuum lines coming from the brake servo hose. Check its plugged in.
Im not sure exactly what throttle body malfunction is

What I failed to explain properly is when the car starts it goes to maximum revs. Sometimes inside 2 seconds it drops to an idle of some sort (hunting very very badly)
I have stripped the car this morning and removed inlet manifold, throttle body, header tank etc and gave it all a good clean with a few cans of brake cleaner.
The vacuum pipes are a bit ropy, but more that I dont know where they fit rather than perished. Seems so many of them.
Fitted a new throttle body gasket and it still does the same.
I can not find any reference to starting a corsa and it just goes flat out.
Has no one had this fault previously!

Update.
for any opne esle who has the same symptoms our problem was diagnoised and fixed as a sticking idle valve using teh tech 2 computers that vaukhall have. Fortunately we have a mate who sorted it but vaukhall would have charged me 200 quid so be wary.
All he did was to hook up the Tech 2 and move the idle valve using the computer.
Sorted!
Thanks for all those who tried to help though!
