Just started my hallway... find it very theraputic 
Anyone else? 
Also any ideas on anything apart from skimming that can be done? The walls aren't great and Richie doesnt think lining paper would be any good

Nto sure what you could do about the walls though. Lining paper has always done me proud.

I hate stripping wallpaper. Probably because the last room I did had about 30yrs+ of different layers of paper and paint so took forever to get it off

I like stripping the old wallpaper Can't stand putting it up though Done my front room with a mate and then the hallway myself. Never again Paying someone to do it next time! I'll just do the stripping and painting

I only like it this time because im doing the hallway
When i got my keys we did the kitchen, longe/diner, bathroom and 3 bedrooms all in one go!
Wall construction - dunno, looks like a normal wall tbh
Dunno what im going to do tbh - i think reskimming is my only option god dammit

I'm going to get mine skimmed and spot lights fitted if i stay here. Got a few small cracks in places and cover over all that old paint.
Have to do a room at a time though, fuck doing them all at once All costs money too

im a painter and decorater, i hate stripping wallpaper, if you only have a few cracks just fill em and sand the walls down for lining

the whole walls are lumpy/bumpy, nothing major but it would take an awful lot of filler to sort it out
Reskimming it is i kinda knew we would have too, every other room in the house had to be reskimmed once we'd taken the paper off

dot and dab the walls
involves sticking plaster board to the walls, just needs a light skim over it then, or the lining paper

So you can fix plasterboard to the walls then line over it?

i am too, just make sure you prep the wall well, size the wall (used thinned down paste to 'paint' on all the bare walls) as this evens oout the perosity of the surface. 
using HOT SOAP water will get most wall papers off, the more times you go over the surface and let the water soak in, the easier it is to come off, let the watr do the work
800grad lining should be fine, any thicker and its like card board to apply.
remember ining paper covers nothing and if your walls are bad the imperfection will show through.
if you feel really brave, use 'WALLROCK' fibre lining, this is really strong if you have poor wall that you think might crack.

First seal the walls with a PVA and water mix , to quite a creamy mix. Apply it with a paint brush generously, this helps the adhesion of the plasterboard adhesive.
Then mix up the adhesive (can get it in b+q) to quite a sticky , lumpy mix and splat it onto the walls. Offer the plasterboard up onto the wall , over the adhesive and it will begin to set instantly because of the suction between the board and the adhesive.
However , I would NOT recommend this. Reasons being :
Sticking the plasterboard on to old plaster could result in it pulling away after time and looking a total mess.
Cost of plasterboard and adhesive - time also !
And finally , you would be getting the plasterboard skimmed anyway, so there isnt really any benefit at all at the end of the day.
