Has anybody ever done this as I have recently purchased a tdi and am wondering what u could do to improve the sound. Would it be the same sorta sound as a petrol? Also whats peoples opinions on diesel dump valves?

Cheers

I think modifying the air intake and exhaust system makes them louder if anything. Depends if you think noisy is good?

From what i've read as well a dump valve on a diesel isn't actually a proper dump valve per se, it's only there to imitate the noise of a petrol one and as such is pretty much useless.

It's always going to sound like a bag of spanners on a cold winters morning tbh but there are modded ones that don't sound too bad.

I think my bosses A6 sounds fine cruising along the motorway but idling at the lights it's not the best.

Modifying air intakes on tdi's that i've seen tend to make them sound like darth vader

Can sound quite good if done properly, but I'm happy to leave mine as it is

Just fully soundproof the engine

intake and exhaust won't make a difference.

I had a 306 hdi with scorpion backbox and green cotton filter and it sounded shit still, went well though

My 2.2DTi has a K&N panel filter and the airbox has had the 3.5" pipe mod done.

I quite like the sound of it.
