Best thing to clean it as at the moment it doesn't glide as much as it should.
Its an optical mouse thing, not normal one, and the rollerball is the bit you use with your thumb, if that makes sense.
That to be precise.

Can you take the ball out?
If not some cd cleaner or the likes down the side.

just get a cotton bud and a bit of alcohol cleaner stuff, eg cd cleaner, and wipe it.
Wipe the ball with cd cleaner and a bit of tissue or something.
