My engine temp seems to go up pretty quick, it cools down fine after a while of the fan eing on, what can i check to sort this ?

Have you changed any cooling system parts recently??
Maybe an airlock, or you could have a sticky thermostat.

If you've changed any coolant system parts recently, you may have a bubble of air stuck in there somewhere.
Although, I had a similar problem on my xe, it would warm up pretty quickly and then stay warm. If you booted it, the needle would go up, let off, needle goes down. That was a sticky thermostat.
