Not big enough to be nice for the fish imo.

Presumably if you just stick to a few fish (for low maintenance as well) it would be OK?

Yeah thats what I would go for... 1.5m x 0.47 probably looks quite odd as well as being very very long

do look good, but personally dont hink its fair on a fish 4.5cm deep, even a neon tetra could only just turn round!!

Do you not think the width would make up for the depth?

No. Fish need room to move. Sometimes they have a quick blast around, which in my 240 litre tank they smack the sides.
A lot of little fish would look pretty cool. Shoaling fish like tetras or something.
Does that tank have a heater?

It's more of a stick cheap fish in tank.
If you want to get into fish keeping, then go for somehting bigger and decent. After having a small tank for a year, I upgraded because my fish got too big.
Juwel do some very nice tanks. They don't go for much on e-bay either. Range from 120 litres to 500 litres.

For the time being I just want something small that looks good that I can keep a few nice fish in, then get more into it when I have more space and time etc.

just get yourself something small then. As something like that isnt going to be easy to clean and keep any type of fish in.
