Although i've posted about this before, i've got absolutely no where
So basically, the situation is, i want to be able to control my computer from work (so VNC), beable to listen to my music/videos from home at work (ie: load up winamp at work drag and drop into playlist etc) and beable to use my home computer as a Gateway for my internet browsing (some sites i need for my teaching are blocked and can't be done here) - plus the usual facebook, youtube etc.
I have complete control of my connection at home, however at work it's filtered and theres very few ports open (the usual 80, 8080, 110, 25, 443...no ssh or VNC i don't think, though is there a way to do a scan and check?).
I've tried a few ideas like tunneling (stunnel, SSLexplorer etc) but they've either failed or it's a bit of a head fook So anyone got any ideas, solutions or if it can be done?
Is it possible to route the connection on port 80 if it was a ssl/ssh/http-tunnel? Or would i need control of the router/net connection setup at work?
cheers,
Dom

sorry to burst your bubble Dom, but you will not be able to listen to music and watch videos over a VNC connection.

indeed, but theres a chance you might be able to do something with the above program.
Maybe setup a FTP server on your machine at home?

unless you have any control over the ports at your work your stuffed, getting out from work to your home PC wont be too much of a problem, but getting from home into work will be no no

I used Remote Desktop for this when I was at Uni as they supplied the client on all Uni machines.
When I was at school, though, it was a bit different.
I found a Remote Desktop web client that came with wither Server 2003 or XP Pro's version of IIS (the web server). I had it on my XP machine, so just connected to http://[my-IP], which loaded the client. I entered localhost in the address box and it connected to my home computer. It was a pain sometimes, but it worked.

OMG, it actually works!
Just phoned my mrs and got her to install the client on the home PC and I can access it from work
Been trying loads of different ways for ages!
Interestingly, it'll also let me access my work machine from home too. Not sure if i'd get in trouble if I got caught tho
