This started in August when i got the car from a member on here named Linch.

I had this 1.6 Sport:

Being 18, and on a shite wage, i couldnt afford the insurance so i wanted to go back to a 1.4 so I did a deal with Linch, for my car, in which i got his car and money my way, so we were both happy

Its a 1999 V plate, SXi shell, with an x14xe engine, fit by Dave A.
It also came lowered 60mm on front and 40mm on rear, Gmax shocks and Springs, but Apex springs on the front, Smoked Depo's, Punto rear wiper, 2.0 Calibra brakes, Powerflow backbox, Pipercross filter.

This is the day i got it home, well outside my girlfriends, as you can see, its filthy:

After a clean and some clear MK4 Astra repeaters, and a chrome ariel it looked like this:

I then fit my stereo and sub, but no pics of sub, and also a Smoked Vectra interior light:

Then i did a 1/4 mile day at York Raceway, ran a fastest time of 17.9, which im very happy with for a 1.4 :

(Headlight removed as im sure you know to get air to the filter, and yes my air filter is on the passenger side)

Random engine bay pic:

Few more decent pics after a clean:

And now last weekend just fit a strutbrace i bought off Chris_uk, and a red Oil cap that was on it when i first got it:

And thats all for now, ill update when i can, hopefully next month will see the bonnet painted (badly stonechipped) Smooth post 97 front bumper, color coded rear and arched, semi-smooth boot, and maybe a HID kit.

the car has come on nicely, but may i ask the question as to why the air filter is that side? i can see that the filter is further away from the enginem but surely the pipe goes round the back of the engine and gets heated again?

no shane, the original pipe on the engine goes right round the back

the one on this car has a shorter route of air intake,

i;d imagine it to be better, but never seen it tested before

UPDATE

While i was down at college, i asked for my bonnet painting, so off it came

It was covered in stone chips and rust, so it was nitromorsed and full bare metaled. Then primed, with too much primer, and painted, then the primer popped, causing it to look like this

Off it came again, to be bare metaled again and re-painted. In the mean time i fit new plates

Then a random one of Blue, my new Corsa mascot C'MON!!

After painting again, reflections

Then the other day i got a badgeless grille off my mate so a few more pics

At my work, will only have to pay for the paint, and maybe buy the painter a crate of beer or something, but will be doing all the prep work myself.
