Awesome GTi (reputable VAG tuner) in Manchester say that they could fit my car with cruise control, using all of the factory parts, stalks, etc for £150.00

Thats the cheapest I've ever heard of cruisecontrol being fitted (properly) and i'm considering having it done.

Seems like a nice toy to have in the car, but is it worth that sort of cost?

People with cruise control - do you find it a godsend, or just a useless toy that you could easily do without?

I have an A6 for work and it has cruise control. It's so nice to just set the speed and let the car do the work. Great for driving through places with speed cameras too Use it all the time...

Yeah in todays world it's a must have IMO if you go into roadworks etc all the time or general motorway driving.

Not cheap though just for what is essentialy a switch!

Ive never heard of anybody fitting cruise control to a car, and didnt expect it would only be £150 anyway. Id go for it, ill maybe look into it myself aswell.lol

My mate recently bought the sri turbo astra with cruise control abd he finds it useful. Over here there are major roads works going on the motorway and the limit is down to 30mph, so he says for situations like this it is a good method to fight the temptation.

The main reason i would be interested is for this reason, to use on roads where speed cameras sit etc.

The thing is it's already sorted in a car that has it as an option it just needs the switch on the end of the stalk or a new stalk and some jiggery pokery.

Charging that kind of money is a piss take

i have it on the corsa, its really good once you get used to it, especially on long motorway journeys and as said above roadworks as long as it isn't too busy with traffic

I might go for it, although the car is broke atm, so might wait to see what fixing it will cost before deciding on new toys

Don't like it personally, even on the motorway i find myself pushing the speed up and down using the stalk just so i'm doing something.

Driving isn't a spectator sport imo.

Have you looked into how much work it is to do it yourself? I know on the S3 its pretty much a DIY job.

only time really use cruise on cars i've had is to play with it see if it works...

I'm not a very steady speed driver... i'll acclerate to pass people on motorways etc.... slow down at certain points... it'd be too on off.

I'll try it on thursday... i'm still getting to terms with 25mpg wowser

I can barely check the oil level on my car without fucking something up, so DIY is way, waaaaay out of the question
