Anyone know how these work? Few of them on new houses around my way, do you need to be able to pay the mortgage without the subsidy or is it away of helping you to afford a house you wouldn't have been able to get (say i could only get a house for 100K on my current earnings, but with the subsidy, would i be able to get one on a 160K house, as i will be more than likely to be earning enough in 2 years to cover it?)

Are these new houses? I'd be rather pesimistic about these schemes if so. The companies selling the houses offer these schemes by selling you the house over the realistic price.

It can be either knocked off the sale price of the house or paid via cheque upon completion (exchange of contracts & keys)
