Really depends on other things as well though, insurance, servicing costs.
15k wouldnt spend more than 5k on a car and 600 in insurance then service myself.

Depends on the finance deal you could get, how long you were prepared to save for a deposit etc.
My bro bought a 56reg Astra SRi 150CDTi last month with 6k on the clock, the dealer wanted £12000. He knocked him down to £10800 a free set of mats and full tank of fuel etc etc, put £5400 down in cash and pays around £250 a month for 2 yrs.
He's a plasterer tho, works 7 days a week he's pulling in £40K+
If i only earnt £15K id save £2000 and buy a half decent car thats going to last a few years and service it myself.

I was earning 5k when I got my car. I bought it for 2k, and it was £1750 for insurance. Altogether in the first year it cost me about 6k . That's buying, insuring, fixing, servicing, modifying

I wouldnt be able to afford a car if i had to buy one! I'd end up buying something for about £1500! And rather than finance, the better option is to save up for 2years, then buy it outright. Then while youve got that one, start saving again and buy outright come car changing time next time round. Dont pay someone interest for something thats depreciating that way

Unless its 0% finance and you'll be keeping that car for a while.

It's not the cost of buying the car, it's running it.
I must put £50 a week in mine on average and then there is repairs on top.
You could buy a shitter but it's still going to cost money to run..
I'll pay what i can afford on a car tbh. All depends on other out goings and other things you want.

I'd be saving and then buying outright. I'd never finance on £15k. You'd be too restricted for the period of finance, and not be able to move on in life.

I think if i got a good finance deal, id look into a car for around 6k earning 15, leaves 1k for insurance and then just playing

Now I'm saving for somewhere to live I'm hoping to be spending less over the coming years on a car, but I'm currently 19 and bought a car for £11k brand new. I earnt less than that a year when I bought it ages ago.......doesn't bother me. Most of its on 0% finance, but I did put down a decent cash deposit.
I've got no idea what I'd buy if I was on £15k, but with a bit of careful money management, I could probably afford something pretty decent TBH.

As long as you can afford it you can have any car you want in reason.
I don't smoke..go out on the piss much and have no other vices etc so i see my cars as my only real outlay.
I earned 26K last year but i was in 22K's worth of debt up until last week so IMO never get in debt for a car unless your 1000% sure you can afford it.
Oh and never get finance on the car itself.
