Why not Rooney?
Henry has done nothing for the last 12 months, although recently for Barca has come good again...

When playing in the Premier League he is one of the best goal scoring midfielders in the world IMO.

I'm not saying it should be Rooney, but I think its a bit harsh to say he hasn't done anything Robbo. Granted he had a goal draught which made all the headlines but he certainly made up for it with all the work he put in on the pitch, be it attempts at goal himself or assisting. You only have watch a United game to see that a lot of goals comes from play from Rooney. Look at the weekend, he was on the wing when he crossed the ball in to Ronaldo, who ultimatley scored.
Having said that, I'm not sure it should be Rooney either. His name derserves a place up there though.

From last season, Kaka or Ronaldo, probably edging towards Kaka as he done it more consistently on the European stage. This season looks like Messi could walk it he has been untouchable.

He takes penaltys and most of his shots are deflected (some of which free kicks)
Lampard scores about 4-5 non deflected shots from open play a season
