Well the story began back in July 2006 when my mate bought this terrace house. It was a shit tip. The last people who live there never took their crap with them. So after clearing the house out he wasn't happy (he never is).

Many Many years ago there was a pit under where he lives + the 40 tonne lorrys driving up and down the road 50 times a day, 365 days a year, 80+ years, the house has subsided a little..... well a lot. But it hasn't move in the last 40 or 50 years so it should be ok for the next 10.

So that meant that the walls and the floors weren't level. So everything had to be removed. And i mean everything!!!!

Living room looking to the basement.....

Loft to the 1st floor.....

Top of the stairs to the kitchen.....

Small bedroom looking into the bathroom.....

Kitchen From.......

To......

Me taking the pic up in the loft after i've just kicked the ceiling down and that's my mate sweeping it down to the kitchen, and yes i could have fallen from the loft to the kitchen.

Again but this is the other side. From the loft to the 1st bedroom to the living room to the bacement. That'd hurt in the morning if i fell

Brickwork in the loft......

He wanted more room in the kitchen so the chimney breast had to come out........

More tomorrow........

It's me and a couple of mates doing most of the work. It's not that hard. The chimney breast is the only time we got someone in who knows what they are doing. Even then i said that i'd attack that myself.

Fair enough. I've been in so many lofts where the chimney has been removed and the top is just supported with a lump of chipboard. And the owners wonder why the stack is leaning

Chimney breast down..........

The loft now has a step in it. Yes that's how much the floors were out....

Now we had to take a 7 meter RSJ up to the Loft. Here is it in.....

I was sat on the edge lifting the RSJ while 3 people were on the other side to reduce the weight i had to lift. I wrapped the blue rope round my right hand so if i fell i wouldn't land in the kitchen, i'd just be hanging there. So i use my left hand and the tow rope to lift and position the RSJ ready for them to push it into the wall. It was fun

Because the RSJ is so heavey the floor need some strength to take it.....

Here's how we got it in........

Out came the kitchen window and up went the RSJ to the 1st floor.

Then out went the bathroom window so we had enough room to angle it to get it up to the loft.

Now it was time to put in the kitchen floor. In came the load lugger.....

Then in came the cement. Shovel after shovel......

This is how we leveled it all.....

And to get out was fun. Thats my mate who's house it is.

Then patching up the holes in the floor. It still doesn't feel right. Not having to jump over holes where you'll fall a floor or two.

Here's the RSJ fitted into the chimney.......

More on the house later. I need to take the pics but i've been fitting plaster boards.

I think that he's wanting to leave the bricks exposed. I think that he'll fill in the hole if he does.
