The house I have bought already has dish and cable into living room.

Can I buy a Sky + box of ebay, and use if for freeview channels and pause, stop/start and record digi television?

Would this work?

No, you need a subscription to use the sky+ functions.

you could buy a recordable freeview box for the same price as a Sky+ one off Ebay anyway.
