Next stage of mods due to be undertaken shortly, speaking to a few places and I'm still deciding on either forging the 2.0 block or going for a stroker conversion (both have pro's/con's).
Spec thus far is..
Full Magnex Exhaust System With De cat 3"
Magnex 3’’’ downpipe
Full HKS hard pipe kit
Warlbro pump
APS re located intercooler reservoir
APS intake and air filter
Ecotek remap
APS intercooler
Apexi AVC-R
Making 420/405. Choice of options either something like -
1000CC INJECTORS
forged 2ltr engine
272 cams
gt3037 turbo
autronics ecu
Should see at least 470 atf or go for the 2.3 kit, bigger turbo which will easily see over 500 but have a bit of lag Hard decision, tempted to go down the forged route for ultimate response from the turbo, with some nice figures.

Ive noticed your power creeping up lately pal!!
Next step is where it gets costly Im guessing!!!! Should go well with 450bhp+ tho!

id go for the lesser power, becasue a the engine will last longer and b you wont kill yourself as easily as you drive it daily do you not and c turbo lag is ghay

I'd be more worried about losing the license than killing myself The lag won't be too bad with the bigger turbo though, although maintenance starts to get more intensive when your running 500+ i.e bolts needing tightening up etc etc! I reckon a well set up 470-480hp on coilovers with big 6 pots will be a weapon

I think 450bhp is a good figure! I much prefer a road car that is underpowered! Nothing worse that a car that outpowers its chassis - TVR Tuscan and my old 2 litre Corsa spring to mind
Nah, I love turbo lag! You know the longer your waiting the harder the punch will be

correct me if i'm wrong, but can't you use 2 turbos (1 small and 1 big) to reduce lag? since the small one would have spooled up already when the big one comes in.

Well you probably could but nobody has ever done a twin turbo conversion, and most big power Supras run a big single.

As a rule on twin turbo set ups you use two turbos of the same size (usually quite small) Smaller turbos spool quicker but run out of puff quicker too! So you use two - They spool quickly and then the workload is spread at higher revs.
Definitely wouldnt be worth twin turboing something like an Evo, most big power applications go single anyway!

oh - the incease in CC will allow you to fit a bigger turbo without suffering lag in the same fashion as the 2.0
i.e the bigger engine will spool the bigger turbo quicker than the 2.0
a bit bigger, not a dustbin

twin turbo comment from rob - ignore :/
What turbo are you thinking about.. just noticed? Getting from the states or paying a premium over here? Good to see its garret though and not an over priced 'branded' HKS etc

Well yeah, the Evo 9 turbo with modded internals is good for 470-480hp no probs, will obviously run out of puff quickly with the bigger CC, and the bigger turbo will be too laggy with the forged engine so I'm trying to work out the best combo I think I'll probably go for a smaller Garret or the Evo green idea and forge the engine..Cheaper to do this too and probably more driveable than a stroker'd lump

bahhh...
leave the block standard, fit the fueling and mapping goodies, plonk on the turbo and see how you like it.
Buy a spare block and get it built with forged internals afterwards or when the std one gives up

It should be ok running on arp head bolts at 470odd tbh so your probably right, if it gives up then stroker it..Really only need new turbo and couple of other bits I reckon.

yup, much cheaper way of doing it.
That was my plan with the skyline, but engine had some slight det marks and worn bores so just rebuilt the fucker.
Always see what you can get from standard stuff before changing though... saves thousands.
Are you modding the sump at all, baffles?
How about the diffs/gearbox?

Still down on power compared to the other MRs should be closer to 300bhp.
Got cams to fit and map and i think the boost needs whacking up to 1.8 bar...

Sorry I have about 9 windows open here updating my site Diffs/gearbox should be fine with this power, the 8s are much stronger than earlier cars (diffs in particular). And Gareth tell me about it !
