went for a drive to get some pics of my car since ive had the wing repaired and a few other little bits touched up.
i started off this morning by fittin my freshly painted rocker cover and cambelt cover (you can see where this is going.........)
then went to find a place to get a few good photos
as i pulled up the engine started to tap quite loudly, so i stopped the engine bu it was still running ok, then i was straight on the phone to the aa to get the car recovered back to my house, as with a noise like that i didnt want to run the risk of any futher damage happening to the engine.
once home i removed the rocker cover to find shot blast material around the cams and my heart sunk! the camcover was blasted before it was painted, and i spent ages cleaning it to make sure i had all the shot out of the cover, but its looking like i missed some. removed the cambelt and the inlet camshaft. i found that on cylinder no4, one of the hydolic lifters is wedged into the head, presumably by some shot material but as yet i cannot get the lifter out of the head
also the inlet camshaft is scored on the end lobe. i think its time to strip the engine down further and check to make sure that the shot hasnt made its way down to the main bearings.
that is all

cam journals in the head and the caps are also scored on the inlet cam.looking like one dead head. will have to get the oil out and the sump off and see if the bottom end is damaged. if so then bye bye engine

Sorry to see that it's buggered up again.
Since doing most of the mods to your engine, how many miles do you think you have done?

if i were you ide tatally strip the engine down and rebuild it rather than just replacing the head as imo it would of circulated throughout the bottom end.
i wouldnt of thought your pump will be thanking for for it either
