I need help ppl i bought a white corsa sri 8valve l reg very clean!
but when driving the car nearly everytime you slow down to a junction or traffic lights it cuts out any ideas?
i have changed the idle control valve!
anyone got any suggestions please help

give it a chance, no need to bump it up yet.
iirs there is a speed sensor for the ecu, is this connected up and does the speedo work?

bolted the the bulk head on the left. by the coolant bottle. black rectangle with a green plug usually

right i took the map sensor off which is near the coolant bottle, and the car ran very lumpy and was proving har to tick over...
so fitted the map sensor back on and it runs the same as before...
anymore suggestions people cheers for your help dez.k

I meant it may need replacing not just taken off 
Best to get a diagnostic reading done and see what cosed come up

o my same problem.... although mine doesnt always cut out, just revs drop egm light on etc etc! runs fine thou! ive heard it could be to do with the vss ...... but this can be in 2 places.... back of the clocks? or on the gearbox?
someone please help!

yer cammack same here! mine runs fine most of tyhe time but then cuts out and its frustating the hell out of me!
My speedo aint working either so may have to try a new one of them and see how it goes from there!

does it show any lights on the dash when it stalls ? i woukd find someone with tech 2 just to see if a fault code has shown ?

it will be the speed sensor (vss) as i said before, check wiring and replace is needed

so this vss..... is it located on the back of the clocks? because it seems to be in different places depending on what type of clocks, and how old your car is.

no you see it doesnt on mine, its different, there are like 2 types to look for pre 95 and 95> i think.........

yeah..... but do you have the vss bit on your gearbox, or on the back of your clocks?

i thought that cable was the vechile speed sensor!

no.... well what ive heard is that the vss for our cars, is on the back of the clocks, either not attached properly, or sensor knackered! so new clocks should sort it, ive just not got round to getting a set!
ah yes and also my clocks do work, but still have this prob, hence i believe its the sensor!

i had the same problem with my 95 sport, after a diagnostic test i found out it was the speedo connection, mine had rusted at the back of the clock and needed replacing, after that had been replaced, everything ran fine with no cutting out or engine management lights etc.

oh shit just tried renewing my vss and snapped the part that goes into the gearbox...... any1 ever done this before? i need help now lol
