Just found out that because my car has been off the road for more than 12 months, i now cannot transfer my reg plate.

Not without a valied MOT
And Tax
Which requires insurance..

There is "no reason" why I need all this stuff to remove a peice of plastic that I own from the car. If i don't do all this, the plate goes to the graveyard along with the car....

So, mot, can sort
Insurance, 14 days to cancel, expect it to be cancelled.
Tax, i'll have to get 6 months, then cancel it straight away.

All this hassle because the DVLA cannot sort their arses out. Plus they were sh1tty as hell on the phone.

Complete mofos....

I lost the plate of my old clio because off this stupidity.

And it wasnt worth fixing my old clio as i would have had to spend the cost off the plate just fixing it

Ive always wondered why the hell it has to be all legal to get something off that you legally own?

You have to have 12 months previous, or just need to buy a 12 month policy?

Fine with the latter, still can claim back 11 months, the first will cause problems though

Cool thats ok then, you had me worried there. Just means forking out more for tax initially.

I'll be cancelling/claiming back both insurance and tax within a day of getting them anyway.

What a p1ss take though, if i were bad this could be "enticing" to go get a dodgy MOT, but if i done that and got caught, no doubt they would happily drag me to court and fine me loads.........

I think that people who can afford a private plate should have no complaints when it comes to the hassel and cost involved in a transer... you should know all this when you got the plate ;-)

p.s dai... il get you a MOT if required ;-)
