I want lighter wing mirrors for the trackcar... The standard ones have s few motors in them. Electric fold, and adjust... so a fiar bit of weight.

Fee thinks the style i'm looking at look 'mong' - her words

which would prob look a little like this once fitted

they are W113 x H52 - so pretty tiny

Any other suggestions.... I liek ganador style ones, but they all still have electrics as far as i can see... so no go

thats the exact comment i would expect from a person with a completly different interest in car from me (not a bad remark, just dif)

The car is heavy, no way of really getting round that obstacle apart from making it lighter!

Fair enough you can make it 'faster' but you still have to make it turn and stop. Going faster, stopping and turning are all easier and 'better' when the car is lighter.

Say the standard wing mirrors weigh in at 5kg each, and the new wee ones at 1kg (i think they'd be lighter, but for examples sake). Thats 8kg saved. 8kg might not seem great to you, but add it to the rest (or take away if you like)

Rear steering - 15-20kg
Seats - 40kg
AirCon - 15kg
windows - 10kg

Do you not notice how quick your car is when there is only one person or a little amount of fuel in it?

Plus 50quid isnt going to break the bank.

to sound really un-PC...
they remind me of a person with hands but no arms....if you get what I mean

they just look wrong

how much less do they weigh than standard ones? we each lose that amount of weight and then they won't be needed

To be honest Adam, with those tiny little ones, you may as well just not have any, you'd see the same behind you either way, they vibrate like buggery, my mate has them on his Mini and they're useless

Ah no way, I definately have had that sort of interest! I stripped all the interior out of my corsa and even some of the sound deadening to make it lighter, and there was a slightly noticeable gain in performance.
But I cant see the wing mirrors saving enough weight to make it worthwhile. I seriously doubt any sort of wing mirror weighs even 1kg let alone 5kg! If you are that intent on saving weight and the car is intended for track use, why bother with wing mirrors at all?

Corsa mirrors weigh 500g less per side if they've not got electric adjustment.

I can see there being a saving of 5kg or so in Adam's case, definitely.

Do you use the mirrors a lot on the track? They don't look like they would be that functional, but if you don't need to worry too much about whos coming up your ass then who cares if they looks funny.
