CS is perfectly set out as it is. Another forum I'm on has about 20 different sections with half the members this has. All but 3 of them are practically dead and the place looks lifeless to anyone who doesn't know where they're looking.
I suggested making it more like CS but would they listen, would they fuck
Keep it how it is

I did that on a forum I use too, I got told where to go
They've got a section for each Vauxhall model, 5 sections for different motorsports, a general car chat for non vauxhall posts, a jokes section, a tv section, etc etc.
Looks a mess.

minimal is best - cs has far the best layout of any sites i use,
and is spot on, as it is now - nothing extra needed

The site I was on about has the following on the home page:
3 new members/read mes/site news
9 subdivisions of the website topic
4 equivalent to off day
5 classifieds (for sale, wanted, links etc)
12 shops - most of which are shit
28 boards and I kid you not 4 are used regularly. So stupid, you can't even find what you want as its all over the place!

I can beat that
2 welcome type forums, one split into 3 sub sections (so 4 in total really)
The Vauxhall section with 11 subforums
5 more motoring sections
Traders area, 7 sections
Meets section with 2 sections, plus 16 regional groups
2 modifying sections (not sure why they're not in the car chat area really)
8 off day/geek day type forums
3 BTCC rooms
3 other motorsport related forums
3 classified sections and
1 testing area for sigs etc.
65 forums
They have 359 members and it ALWAYS looks really quiet.
Slimming it down to 20 forums (including the regions) would make it look much busier, but they won't do it

359 members to 65 boards. Thats a board for every 5 members FFS
At least we have 5000 members to fill the space
They just don't seem to understand how shit forums look to most people when they first look. Its like, fuck, where to start, so they leave again......

Steve, no, I don't want to get banned, it's quite good other than the layout
The funny thing is they added more forums not long ago when they wanted a Formula 1 discussion section. They added 3 forums instead of just having a "Motorsport" on, ending up with 6

Maybe, but at least you never see more that about 6 or 7 at a time, and never have to scroll far either.
