Earlier this year Whittie drove me to London to pick up a mk2 ibiza GTI. I had always been abit of a SEAT geek but never owner a GTI model.

Picked up this totally stock 2.0 8v GTI for just £1,000

First off was the K&N filter in the airbox (trying to keep it looking stock)

Now it needed some new rear discs and pads as the ones on there were the original ones from new. Thats 10 years ago
While i was at it, 15mm spacers
This has made a massive difference to the handling of the car. Reason being that a mk2 ibiza beam is that of a mk4 polo which has a 30mm narrower track than the front
Now thats sorted

Next, is a golf mk2 GTI camshaft (PB engine). Im currently sourcing one as it should give nice gains across the board without loosing any of my low down torque.

No turbo, it wasn't until the mk3 that they got a turbo.

Not massive on the bhp department, but considerably faster than my old 1.6 16v corsa. They make oooodles of low torque mind

Out of interest did you see the track inspired seat ibiza (was the same colour as yours) in Performance VW a couple of editions ago.

240bhp, wide arches, stripped. Looked the tits. I think you need to go down that route

Booked as 115bhp but normally make closer to 125bhp on the rollers.

Very easy to tune. A big valve PB cylinder head and a remap makes 150bhp and ooodles of torque.

Nice simple engine to work on too. I have driven all the cars on the fourcourt here at work (vauxhall garage) and non are as enjoyable to drive as this mk2

Could always get the 16v that has 150bhp as stock.

My 8v makes the same torque but less hp
