i just installed the new version of Need For Speed (the demo anyways) and when i try and open it it says "c:\Windows\system32\d3dx9_34.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains errors. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support"

I have re-installed the demo a couple of times, i have attempted to re-install directX, but it gives me a similar error to this (only with a different dll file)

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!!

Sadly, my graphics card is a new release, so the only drivers out for it atm are the stock ones.

It's an ATI x1700 256MB, it runs games like F.E.A.R, Battlefield 2142, and the old nfs, so i dont think that is the problem.
