there both quite rare motors

sri being rarer only 500 ever built!

who ever says they cost a bomb to tune is rubbish! imo there easily tunable and not dear at all

gsi interior in lovly wish i had it! and they do hold there money well for a vauxhall

cons: weak turbo's if not looked after properly and as i found out weak gearbox too

More pros than cons i would say!

I loved mine, good spec, good performance, and good looks for the money i think!

Can be tuned quite cheap i would say 400notes will get you an extra 30bhp 1k will get you too 250 and 2k+ will see you past 300bhp+!

There are a few cons as with any car, as said above turbos can be an issue if not looked after or can react bad to tuning, but then its an excuse to get teh VXR turbo on there!

They are also quite thirsty IMO!

There are faster cars out there for the money but i dont think theres many with the same spec size age!

I love mine performance is good as standard.Quite easy to tune just look out for cracked exhaust manifold's as these go alot like airflow meter's.Get a vxr turbo and you will be sorted!!!!!

Some things to look out for:

- Cambelt change if done more than 40,000 miles (essential IMO).
- If modding ensure there is sufficient cooling. The KKK turbos are infamously poor even the new LEH turbos are not much better.
- Tyre choice is important too. Don't go for cheap tyres, or you will spend a lot of the time spinning up. I made this mistake when I bought my new alloys.
- Tuning is cheap if you are looking for around 240bhp. However I would recommend an intercooler. If you are looking at more than this expect to pay around £2000, plus another £1000 for an essential full exhaust system, £500 (fitted price) minimum for a new uprated clutch as the standard one won't last long. So things can get expensive.

The gsi is 197bhp, the sri 190hp. The gsi has the leather interior (which adds 45kg) which is great. They do 0-60 in bout 6.5 i think. The sri rear splitter is an aquired taste, but i like it!

Also the rarity of the sri is a plus.

Think youll find there is Byron old bean, it has disabled my police outline detector out the rear! The line of the spoiler is exact height of car behind u so headlights are blocked out. Cant see end of bonnet or jack out the back lol

good cars tho

i dont find the gsi thirsty
no harder to park than the sri as it has the same spoiler
i have a gsi for sale which was sold but now back u due to a time waster
ive had a new turbo and actuator fitted

as said the gsi's dont seem to depriciate as much as the sri's so my choice would and still will be the gsi

I had a coupe which is essentially the same car and i loved it. Engines are easily tuneable (avoid atmospheric dump valves though) mate has a gsi, he loves it too, go for it...
