really tempted to buy one, £15 someone has just posted a guide for a 306 one, although I know i don't need one, or even probably use it. Is it because I watched too much Knight rider as a kid?
I know i'll buzz over it while the missus just looks at me like an idiot.

My dad fitted a push button start on his rascal van, it someone tried to rob it 2wice so he decided he would wire the ignition up to a button under the seat, that way you turn the key and the accserories would work but the engine wouldnt turn, till you pressed this button

Seems silly putting the key in the ingnition, turning the key round then pressing a different button. 2 of my dads cars have it, still not sure I get it.

Certainly is. They only work on cars like them not cheap hatchbacks

the novelty wore off for me after about the 3rd time of using it. Also when you drive another car almost every time i flick the ignition round and then realise theres no buton.

Thats the thing, I don't get why I'm contemplating it, I just like gadget tye things.
JUst thought on, i've an immobaliser keypad, that I have to type a code in with the keys in anyway, and the lighter is next to it, so could be kind of cool there.

it would be a mission to start your car. Key in ignition, turn key, enter code, press button to start. Would it work on a Diesel though, it would probably try and start straight away so the heater plugs would'nt have time to warm up properly?

yep, right in the middle of the dash. Its also surprising the number of people that dont get it, even when you say you have to press a button to start it, its not even hidden

I'm such a retard, by the time you have gone through the start up routine you would need to warm them up again

Why would a push button start make any difference to the clutch?
On some cars, yes, you have to press the clutch to start it. Most retrofits (and probably some of the earlier standard fits) don't require you to press the clutch. My RX7 certainly didn't. I could either turn the key all the way around, or turn it to ignition, then press the button.
