speedo stopped working !

is there a sensor in the gearbox which when the speedo cable snaps tells the ecu that the car is ticking over when it is actually moving so it occasionally cuts out when coming to a stop.

does the cable just need replacing or is there more to it ?
cheers

if your car is an early corsa there should be a cable that is screwed into the transmission that may have come loose of be dragging underneath your car?

first thing to find out is whether your clocks are cable or electronic, take them out and see if there is a cable going into the back. if its cable they are a right pain to change, make sure you get a two piece GM one, i got a non gm one and it was not long enough in the middle so wouldnt work

check if your reverse light and interior light works too. I had loads of trouble with my electric ones when they stopped working.

clocks start at 0mph = electric
10mph = cable

speedo will be cable im sure somebody else will back me up on that. probably just a snapped cable as that seems to be the usual problem shouldnt cause too much of a problem.
