to do with the AFM, position of the valve or something. To do with the ECU and unmetered air.

yeh that's why you need the twin piston type on the c20let but won't it be the same on a z20let as they both have afm's?

totally different design, i dont know the technicalities im afraid, it just doesnt work. Mainly IMO the throttle responses are all to cock. Plus astra is electronic whereas c20lets etc are all cable driven.
twin piston is required on z20 as well, same valve as cally

from what i've read, it depends on where you connect the vacuum line to open the valve. it needs to be a genuine vacuum source (suggested is fuel pressure regulator)
z20let and z16ler utilise a solenoid controlled vacuum box, which is controlled by the ecu. this allows the ecu to control the boost pressure more effectively, and at times bleed off the boost pressure if it isnt needed. the runiong problems are caused when the ecu decides the boost pressure isnt needed (tootling along or whatever) and opens the standard dump valve via this vacuum box. the problem being if another dump valve is also fed off this same box, it will release all the incoming air from the intake and so causethe jerkiness etc
or something like that
