Trans x do gripper plates dont they? Alot more violent and better suited to the track. Quaifes come with a warrenty. Does the job I think.

Depends really:

Road use mostly = Quaife
Track use = Plate which I think the tan x one will be?

IMO

trans-x has lots of clutches that wear out in time but is better at being an lsd but the quaife ATB is done by mad complex gearing that lasts all day long but ya need lsd oil not normal oil.

I use a ATB in my corsa an its fine, but if I was going to use it 100% on track I would have a plate one.

I think I would get a gripper given the choice again too, mine came up already fitted fairly cheap hence I bought it and to be fair it is a really good piece of kit.

can you explain the difference?

if it's for everyday the trans-x will keep wearing out the ATB won't and the trans-x might have a higher percentage of "lock up" which will give a jittery drive.

Mainly the fact that you have to take them out every few thousand miles to rebuild them. Which will soon get boring when your doing it with your oil change.

I have heard the servicing levels are often over exaggerated. I believe the plate diffs wind up driving at roads speeds which can cause excess stress on the transmission.

sod that,

he said every 25k using it on a road car

is a lsd even worth its while, not as if its going to be a torquey engine tbh, just revy

i mean obviously it would be worth it in a rear wheel drive car....

So so worth it warren. The 106 is already a great handling car and it just pulls round bends like ive never known before since the LSD has been on. Really recommend it, saying that though it was very unpredictable in the wet, will grip sometimes and others cause excessive understeer.

Bear in mind you will have to have to pay to get it fitted to the crown unless you can do that yourself.

Mine is fitted with a very short ratio'd 1.3 box and its so much fun. (when it works) Had enough problems recently with release bearing and paddle clutches.

As I thought. I wouldnt know how extensive your knowledge is of gearboxes though, ive heard from people that have done it that it can be quite a mission though.

Mine is a Quaife ATB yeah.
