They have to provide it within 5 working days to comply with Ofcom rules.

e7even broadband gay me a MAC key after 4 hours when I reported them to OFCOM for shitty service.

They take 20 seconds to generate 
They only take ages because there will more than likely be a back log of requests and the systems need updating etc which takes them longer to go through the process.
