He'd be mad to go back, tbh I don't see anybody wanting to manage them atm. Fans need to accept they are not a top four/five team and give the new man time to build something, not six/seven months, then sack him.

Please tell me you're taking the piss?

As for the comments about the fans please show me a fan who genuinely believes we are a top 4/5 team and I'll call you a liar

To be fair, the players might want to start giving a bit more so the manager don't look a tool!

Alot of the Newcastle games I've seen there is only a select few that seem to give any effort, how can any manager be sucessful unless he has full backing of the team / club.

N'Castle fans yesterday shouting "Shearer for manager" just because he was an excellent footballer, the north east adore him doesn't make him the man for the job either

Dare I say... Steve Mc?! He did well and built a decent team up around Boro!

The trouble with Newcastle is, they're about 6 players short of being a good team. For as long as I can remember they've being an average team with 2-3 class players.

I've just put a fiver on Venables to take over at 33/1. With Shearer as his number2. This is a complete random bet but was supposedly taken from a Newcastle board member on holiday being overheard. So much so many places stopped taking bets and a few site now have removed the managers betting form for Venables such as Bet Fred and Totesport etc.. I don't care it was worth a fiver
