Ive got a 1.2 16v corsa.

Atm ive got a drilled airbox with pipercross panel filter.

sounds quite nice, but doesn't sound anywhere near as loud as my mates 1.25 16v fiesta.
he's got s pipercross induction.

Would my car get beefier with a pipercross XL induction (new pvd bfo)?

cheers

No i just took the standard box off and replaced with the XL
I noticed a slight loss in power, obviously because the air intake has been changed.

I'd say a drilled airbox sounds better than an open cone air filter of any kind.

My mates drilled his airbox on his 1.4SRi Corsa C and tbh it doesnt sound good IMO.

Mine sounded throaty when I hacked it about.

Make the holes bigger and the sound is deeper. I cut a whole side off and it was fine

on the left side (facing engine).

the bottom bit has huge holes drilled in it.
and a few holes in the back.

does sound good, just nowhere close to my mates 1.25 fiesta.

the holes should be facing away from the engine.

Also, I hate the idea of a car, with all show and no go in terms of noise, which isn't technically go. No matter what you do to a 12v/1.2 16v, the more you rev it, the more you can hear the cam chain-ness, so it sounds shite regardless.

Might explain why your mates Fiesta is better on sound.

I see.

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=225944

Does yours have the removable bit in the bottom left corner?

Putting an open cone on won't make it sound any different to an airbox with loads of holes in.

yeh, my engine is pretty much the same as his.

that bit would remove with a hammer i think

already got a big holes drilled it in though.

also he drilled holes all over the bottom of the airbox, surley that can't be good for heat soak.
