if you were planning to do a fairly good powered xe (200bhp+) what gearbox would you put on it?

some people say f20 but then heard of diff problems

some say f16 for acceleration but they are weaker than f20

and finally someone said an f28

what would you use if you did a fair bit of motorway driving but you want it to pretty good for some drag days?


not doing it but want to try and end a row between friends

Lets standard are 200 BHp and use an F28

Id still go with an F20

f20 with and f18w final drive in it and a quaife lsd

reason-

F20s are pretty stong in general, never hear of many, if any going wrong in corsas with xe's or lets.

and an f18w final drive as it will keep the revs down alot on the motorways. and with that final drive it is better than having the 6 gears on an f28

and quaife lsd to stop wheelspin and for better handling in the bends

how much would an lsd set you back roughly?

what are the f18ws fitted to?

f18w are fitted to vectra sri 140's and some cavalier sri ecotecs i think

lsd's are about £600 iirc, Chris Astley do them and LMF Vauxhall
