SXI/SRI versions with120ps/150ps.
0-60 120ps = 9.8s
0-60 150ps = 8.3s

just wanting peoples opinions on them if they have drove them, and what they are like on the looks of interior, driving and performance, running costs and reliability

also how much are they to buy second hand

ive got a mk5 van with the 120ps engine.
just fitted my DTUK box today, supposed to be 165bhp roughly. very good to drive and has good pull.
not driven a 150 model but hear good things about them and easily tuned to 200bhp.

the interior is good, much better than the mk4.

150 ones are awesome, its a Fiat derived engine and very very good, remapped sees high figures, 200bhp and a shite load of torque, plus they look awesome,

Second hand, 11k plus for a reasonable one, 14-15k for a really good one with 10-20k miles on it.

I have driven the 1.8 petrol and 1.7CDTi versions and I really want one! The handling is spot on Real nice drive, some good specs. Interior I was happy with, its one car I could easily live with and if I have my way I'll buy one later this year. Standard ICE hasn't got a bad sound to it either!

I've got a CDTI150 with a DTUK box on it...its running about 200bhp.

Its the best car i've had....great interior, great engine, mines got the XP pack on it so it looks the gogs danglies too (imo)..

Only negative thing I find with it is quite alot of road noise from the wheels....probably due to the low profile 18's that come with the XP!

Usually nothing - they don't need it to hit the 195-200 brake. Dozens of people have had the boxes fitted, all getting on or very close to the 200 mark on various different rolling roads.

Looked at one myself before buying the VXR. would have wanted the tuning box though, and the vxr wheels, kit and interior, and after all that (and the hike in insurance - it was about as much as the vxr to insure to start with), it'd still sound like a tractor and wouldn't be as quick .

Nothing else apart from the DTUK box and a K&N which will give jack all extra bhp.

Mine hasn't actually been on the rollers but as mentioned above, the tuning boxes give figures of between 190 and 210bhp on the CDTI 150. Thats one great thing about diesels, they are so easily tunable with big gains. After about 230bhp it gets expensive though.

Thats why i'm getting an Astra VXR soon!

I DID want one of these before I decided on the S2000 instead.

Still very plasticy inside IMO, but the best engine choice for performance and running costs. Has to be a 3-door sport hatch though, 5 door looks crap (except that one above )

The 150 is the one to go for out of the 2. You can pick up cars with about 12k miles on for about £10k.

Lots of extras available so if you can find one with bluetooth and sight + light pack its all the better. XP kits can be got for around £550 so dont worry too much about finding one with one fitted as standard. Trim level the Sri is great but the design is a better buy if you want to go aftermarket on wheels and suspension - although Sri will hold the value better come resale.

I have recent gone through the process and brought a diesel, we tried the golf mk5 GT, Astra 120+150 sri, seat leon FR.

We decided to go for the Leon FR 170BHP - although its a higher BHP car I would say the 150 engine astra was an easier, better to drive engine and lot smoother than the FR. We had to buy a 5 door car so went with the FR due to 5 door styling, better interior, and better residuals.

If it was a 3 door car we would have got the Astra as the engine was better and so is the styling IMHO.

So in short go for the 150 - get it mapped or a tuning box to see around 200BHP and you will not be disappointed at all

nowhere near mate, your dreaming if you think youve got 200bhp those dtuk boxes will give 15bhp if that, as said im pretty sure they dont even touch the boost

a remap may see you closer to 200bhp, a tuning box however does nothing apart from a few fuleing and timing adjustments, maybe some sensor tweaks, you dont get much power from them
