Should it be allowed?

At the moment (going by Anfield anyway) you can only buy drinks upto 15mins before kickoff, and then at half time (not sure if their is a time limit then). And you cannot take drinks upto the actual seating area.

The vast majority of other sports allow it with few troubles. Other countries allow it with few troubles. So is it time that we allow it?

I reckon you should have a dress code within the bars within the stadium i.e. you need to be wearing trousers but you can still wear your strip. That would help eradicate a section of the neds/bams/chavs/idiots getting drunk and causing trouble.

But yes i'd be all for it, i sneaked in a fly bottle at the last Champions League game and drank it at half time on the fly

Chelsea has different rules for diffferent games.

No alcohol is served anywhere b4/after/during games in the champions league

League/Cup games alcohol is served as soon as the turnstiles open, at halftime and after the game. Never seen any real problems.

However drinking in the stands would be a stupid idea, beer going everywhere whne your team scores and when gerrard comes to take a corner he will be pelted with half empty plastic glasses

Thats just because you are all chumps.

The CL is the same in all grounds, no drink allowed to be served.

When I watched in a box it was really stupid could drink behind the glasses but could not drink when you walked out on to the balcony.

I am for it if it is regulated properly.

At Anfield you cant drink in boxes during the 90mins of play, and they only have the ones behind glass.

See, now that I think is pointless.

I just mean being able to have a nice pint whilst you are watching the game, not get hammered on Vodka

That must be a loop hole behind glass. I think the rule is clear view of the pitch or something so the glass might be that its not a 'clear' line.

Oh missed that lol.

Though I agree with you on the vodka a pint or two watching the game would be nice. No need to get hammered thats for the pub afterwards.

Although I hate midday games as I enjoyed a drink in the pub before the game as well.

Yeah, I always try to manage 3 or 4 pints before a game. Would be nice to be able to have a few more during the game too.

I expect it would encourage the atmosphere in grounds more too, which is no bad thing.

I think they are worried it might encourage the atmosphere a little too much.

Yeah, I understand their reasoning why, and somwhat agree with it as get some scrags at most games.

But I think with the way things are these days inside stadiums they could introduce it and not get the trouble like you would of 10yrs ago.

I've had a beer at Old Trafford a couple of times, takes too long to queue most of the time though.

Only down inside the stadium though, not when sat watching or during the 90mins though?

hardly chumps, its the image of modern football, especially at the top level. Chelsea are not the only minority who portray this image!!

I doubt it would happen, things can be thrown at the moment so doubt introducing a few more cups to the fans would encourage anymore, especially with the current bannings that seem to get handed out left right and centre.

I reckon there would be higher security costs? but surely it would be offset by the fact they'd be raking it in on booze sales?

On the subject my wee brother got turfed out Parkhead at the AC Milan game for being too drunk when he had 3 pints before the game and missed the winner Otherwise he might have been the guy slapping Dida the dick
