just put my engine back together after changing the head gasket and fitting kent cams and almost every time i come to a junction or traffic lights and stop the car cuts out..
any ideas why its doing this?

Might want to get that sorted mate... I personally couldn't stand having no speedo, it could be a fuse?

nah it was never wired back up when the 2.0 8v engine went in and it doesnt really bother me so i havnt bothered gettin it done

Sounds like it could be your problem, I had the same thing. Basically ECU can't get a speed signal so cuts the engine. God knows why.
But weird you ran for a year with no problem.
Could be your speed sensor too.

do you have a sensor on the crankshaft? check that.

i dont think its the speedo and iv never had a problem with it before.. crank sensor is in place properly

guessing game to be honest. go to a garage and get the fault code read. or do the paperclip test.

Im God because i know why
No speed signal means when you come to a stop and dump the clutch the ECU doesn't know you have stopped and therefore doesn't tell the IAC valve to pulse causing the engine to cut out

Mech speedo?
There is a transducer in the dials. If thats fcuk'd you need to change the dials as it sends a signal to the ECU.

im guessing it's an c20xe?
the ecu doesn't need a speed signal..
it will most likely be the icv
also, try adjusting the throttle cable slightly
