Mines a mess and theres no excuse for it as I used to be a gardener and have had some amazing results with other peoples, but just cant be bothered to do my own! Theres so much to do in it! I need to get rid of about 8 railway sleepers, and a massive palm tree, anyone know if anyone would take it away? Seems a shame to cut it up.

Please post some pics to give me motivation and ideas? Anyone done/like a rockery? Ive got a load of big rocks (sandstone and some grey ones) here that are sittin in the front garden and want to put them into use as they are doing nothing but looking untidy!

sign up to freecycle on yahoo groups
someone will be keen for the sleepers and palm.
I'd take the sleepers myself if you were local as i want some raised beds at the back of mine.

mine's very basic at the moment, and it's not my handywork. Previous owner did it.
I live on a hill, hence the staggering.

those aren't the finished pics btw. all the little things that you see in them pics such as odd coloured fence panels etc have now been sorted. we just took them pics whilst the weather was semi decent as they'd look better.

I love my garden. Having a 2 ponds and a stream flowing between them REALLY attacts nature. I love nature, so its all good.

The other day we had a flock of Starlings raid the lawn for worms. The pump was on, it was like a water party. 6-7-8 birds at a time in the stream having a bath

Also got a blackbird who comes to visit all the time, happy to sit 1-2m away from us for ages.

Also frogs, got newts (protected!!!!) plus untolds others. Other fucker is the Herrings that keep coming and stealing my Koi

Certainly not this green at the moment, but we've got loads of flowers growing between the stream and the lawn, so hoping this summer the garden is going to look ace

However, it can soon dissapear. Wheres the lower pond and stream gone

Yeh its a shame you have to have the mesh over the pond my mate had a really nice pond with lots of different fish in it and they where forever getting eaten

The palm tree I have attracts alot of birds, couldnt tell you which ones like. Usually see about 30-40 at a time all fly on it at once peck the little things off it and all get off at the same time, its like a military operation

Pics of palm, and mess of a garden!!

Ps. It a wierd palm tree though?

Daimo, you say a herring is eating your koi. You sure?

Think you mean Heron You could get a plastic decoy owl, they work quite well to deter herons.

ha ha ha,m where the hell did Herring come from? Yeah meant Herons ha ha ha...

Bottom pond just has mesh, no fish in that one. Thats the natural pond, thats where the newts breed every year. Got about 6-8 in there at the moment, under an inch long

Top pond is where the fish are, theres only a 30-40cm gap but the birds still go in it Came down yesterday, the lights from the pond had been pulled out, rocks on the floor. Reckon a heron went under the netting, dived down for the koi, came back up and caught the wiring and ripped it all out.

Still not seen either koi Grrrrrrrrrr

Don't worry, my garden is a state at the moment. Roll on spring/summer.
Jay, i've got two, but one is around 2m high, the other is about 3-4m high. Its in those pics. We never get any birds or anything on them though?

Nah, its a fish. A Heron is what i meant. I only live a mile or so from the Thames, and only about 4-5 miles from open sea, so we get all the sea birds too. Theres a lot of fresh and salt water marshes down the road too.

Has yours got them little white things hanging off it? Thats what they go for, never see just one or two birds, always come in a massive flock, small blackish/brown birds. Il keep an eye out and try and get a pic.

Yeah, my first pic, look on the right Its all seedly things.

But it hangs out over the stream as thats the side the sun is on. so I cut the whole bugger off last year. Good 2-3" thick stem on the bugger. Its re-growing though.
