Hi guys im in a bit of a predicament (SP) in terms of what to do, i love my ibiza, quick car, very smooth and well built, handling is crap though due to the fact its on poor coilovers.. I've saved enough to buy some weitec full adjustables for it but im unsure if this is going to make it any better...
Ive been having a look around and found I can get a good JDM 1997 Integra with 50 – 65k on it for around 4.7 – 5k, leaving me enough from the sale of the Ibiza to buy suspension and that’s it probably…
Now im looking for opinions on what you would do ? I can get another 30 bhp out the Ibiza for 400 quid, but I don’t know whether to just cut my losses and start again with something bred for the track as such…

I would buy the Integra personally. Handling is amazing. I thought my Corsa was spot on handling, then went in this and it blew it away.
But on the same note, I think your Ibiza looks wicked...

Id keep the Beeza and spend the 400 quid on 30 brake, also add the suspension
I think its a lovely car, never been keen on jap cars

don't bother buying suspension for the integra, it's probably already perfect!
Watch a vid on 'type r' by the international motoring show (jap guys)
when they talk about the integra, they go on about how they're already set up perfectly, and if you do anything to it, it'll actually upset the handling.
I'd personally sell the ibiza if you're thinking of doing track days.

Keep the Ibiza, Integras are overated IMO
Driven both UK and a Tuned Jap one and was not overly impressed.
If you use your car alot on the road, and more than taking it on a track, the Ibiza is better me thinks.
Plus yours is a really nice example, and you will struggle to get an Integra in the same condition as yours within your budget.

I bet you can get a 205gti for whatever it costs, and you'll have more fun than in any ibiza

That's the thing, why i want to buy suspension first, cause if it sorts it out ill be alot happier, im convinced it cant be that bad at handling as they were the car used at rockingham on trackdays etc.

hmm... you see... after watching a type r vid the other day and seeing Dc2's doing 1/4 mile in 14.5's (I thought they did mid 15's!) and a type r dc2 at pod do low 14's (not sure on spec)...
I think I may of discounted them too quick...

DC2 Type R was bred to be a quality street and track car. And if its going to be abused, the chances of it going wrong, are extremely minimal.

Anyone know what the engine's are like ? there a few with 90 k + on the clock, wandering if these are going to last track days and abuse ?

my mates dad had one when i was 16 and it was a car that brought a to your face when he booted it. i'd go for one in a heart beat was looking at them the other week. dont think the 90k will be an issue its just like any car as long as its serviced and looked after no problems.

engines are pretty reliable as far as i can gather,
but be warned that the Jap engines are hugely expensive to repair, my mates old one scored a piston liner, 4k later the car was back up and running, but knowhere near as well as it did originally.
That same engine also ripped out the engine mounting on the passenger side, damaged the threads on the block and needed helicoiling, it snapped the cambelt at the same time as ripping the mount out.

Think that may had just be a once off occasion. Sounds far too extreme IMO. Engines are bullet proof. I have 100% faith in Honda's reliabilty!

It will reliable well past the 100k mark!
My friend works for Enterprise Rent a Car and they have a CTR which got sold to the branch manager with 200k + miles!!!!
The only thing to watch on these are that they can use a bit of oil as they are high revving engines. Also keep an eye for abused gear boxes which will be indicated by a distinct whine.
I can't even see wht your contemplating the issue here 
I would never buy a JDM model i'd buy a UK spec which will have no rust issues, wont have to be run religiously on high octane fuel, wont ocst silly money to insure and IMO look miles better.

Yeah i think they look loads better, just a bit more expensive though, should be able to get one for 6k though i think.

In the long run it will be cheaper trust me, the savings you make from insurance and fuel and general running costs it amazing.
Also you will find quite a few of thr JDM spec ones are bent or rotten within a year as they dont undersal cars in Japan.
