Ford Escort 'Ghia' 1.8 16v Zetec
Car was running perfectly until the cambelt tensioner went at very low speeds (ie. just pulling off) damaging some of the valves. This has resulted in low/no compression when turning the engine by hand. I have been quoted £90 for all of the parts to fix the car and have it running. Before that. the car ran very well with no engine or gearbox issues.
94,000 miles (under average for year), 5 speed manual, Dark Metallic Green, Ghia spec model so loaded with extras including:
-PAS
-Ghia alloy wheels with OK tyres
-Electric Front Windows
-Electric Mirrors
-Central locking with remote boot pop
-Colour coded bumpers and body plastics
-Walnut style dash
-Driver Airbag
-Rev counter
-Standard Ford FM/AM/Tape player with 4 speakers
-Sunroof (doesn't leak)
-Velour Upshostery with rear headrests
-Towing bracket fitted (only ever towed a tiny trailer locally!)
-2 Keys
-Recent new clutch
-Recent new middle box
-MOT till Novemeber 2008 (went though last one with no problems)
Few bad points:
-Car has a heated front screen but never worked when I got the car. Have never investigated the problem - most likey a really easy fix like a relay/dodgy connector etc.
-Airbag light flashes, passed MOT fine so not really a problem. Could probably be erased by resetting the airbag ECU.
Bodywork in good condition, no major scrapes or dents. Minor bit of rust on off side wheel arch - no problems with MOT and not broken though the paintwork. Could be made into a reliable workshorse for someone mechanically minded or stripped for parts for another Escort.
Two owners from new, neighbour down the road from us bought it new and had it serviced by Ford before I bought it. Since then I have personally serviced and maintained the car. Car comes with original handbook, some service history, MOTs and a Haynes Manual.
