The only good thing is the noise tbh.

My mate had the saloon one and it used to drink the petrol like it was going out of fashion.

He eventually sold it for the vectra 2.2 Sri.

The V6 is too heavy, quite dull and wasnt that quick either, regardless of what people think.

Depends if you hoof it everywhere or not. If you drive sensibly it's not too bad, but if you have your foot on the floor the whole time it can be really bad..

I bought Iain M's off him daz, was ok, wasnt quick at all, mainly down to it being ruined by a Cone filter and remus exhaust system, and backbox, it ruined the feel of the car, wasnt responsive at all. That was also the old shape which isnt as nice either, my brother is possibly selling his if your interested u2u me, will be in a few weeks probably. This feels marginally quicker than the one I bought off Iain M, pulls strong in every gear can really feel the power.

They are good cars, ive had 2 now myself, my brothers also had 2 of them and a GSi. I would defo have another one if I wasnt going on the taxis! Facelift only though.

banging noise on them on full chat!

I think the only things to look out for are headgaskets and cambelt change (as the small xe lumps)

Dont no much else, im just going from experience and alot of them are sold as headgasket going/gone so i assume.......

I've really looked into these but decided against it. I have driven the vectra b GSI X25XE and loved it, but i know how often they break and when they do break they are such a pig to work on. All the local ones spend all their time in this garage and the techs hate working on them.

There is a noticeable difference in power and speed between the standard 167bhp SRI and the 192bhp GSI.. And there's also some relatively simple and cheap mods to make them more responsive and get them up and over 200bhp so would definately recommend paying that little extra for the GSI.

Cambelt is expensive to change at a dealership (£400ish), check it's been done recently unless you know someone who can do it for you (parts are less than £100.)

Common fault of rust around the rear door latches. Difficult to find one without it, but no big deal and can be used as a bartering tool when puchasing.

Other than that there's not a great deal of things to look for, other than checking the obvious like ensuring everything works as it should.

A lot of car for little money and as everyones said - the noise..

Vauxhall cambelt kit is £80 for the X25XE.

I've had 3 engines and 4 cambelts replaced in the last 3 years..

(don't let that put anyone off owning a Vec V6 though, was all self inflicted really.. )
