was reading the new performance car earlier (tis very good btw) and they have a feature on the new clio 197 cup as well as a brief spec on the old cups, in the spec it says that the clio 172 cup is 1011kg and the 182 and trophy are 1090kg

dont know if its just me, but thats fucking loads, meaning dhdevs nova for example is 450kg lighter than a clio cup

Its not that light really is it, cars seem to get heavier as time goes by. S1 Rallye was 825kg as standard

i know , seems silly to call it a lightweight version really, as its only a bit lighter than a really heavy hatchback

My big lardy Golf is supposedly only about 1200kg, so 1011 for a 172 'cup' is shocking

You WOULD say this James. Your car weighs less than a Bueno bar.

Its called compromise. They've made it lighter but they still need to keep some sound deadening as most people don't want rattles, squeeks, too much engine noise. Then theres all the safety requirements a car has to have now.

I know which I'd rather be in a crash in if it was between the Clio and a Nova

Clio 172 Cup 1011kg regular 172 1080kg.

your right they do weigh more, but you look at the extras it comes with, air bags, even the cup has twin air bags, 2ltr engine, mine has climate control (in a cup!) power steering....... this is where the weight is, then compare the weight of a clio cup to a corsa vxr..... 200kg is alot of weight, so compared to most cars the cup is lightweight
