Don't think they will go down, but they won't be far from the drop

No.
Problem is they have about 5-6 decent players and the rest are shite. Notably the defence.

Their problem is that they only seem interested in buying strikers and midfielders when their back line is shocking beyond belief and can't play together for shit!

They won't get relegated no and the reason they are shit is they continue to choose incorrect managers for the position and then back him which leaves millions of either useless or wasted talent sitting rotting.
Souness, Allardyce and Keegan all incorrect choices if they want succesful trophy winning sides. They need to clone Martin O'Neill tbh.

another problem they have is that for some reason they consider themselves a big club that should be challenging for the big trophies

Totally agree with that, far too much expectation on them. Fans need to let somebody build a team before they start getting on the managers back. IMO Kevin Keegan was a very bad choice.

A football club is it's fans, they have the potential to be as big as they want to be if they could get it right on the pitch first of all.

I'm not sure he was a bad choice. Hes just come back in at a bad time.
I think likewise if Alladyce had been given time he could have got them to where he got Bolton.

I don't think Keegan has the mental strength to deal with the expectation of the fans though, he has walked away a couple of times when the going got tough. I believe although Allardyce wouldn't have played pretty football he would have turned things around and would have had the strength to cope with the pressure.

I'd be interested to know what these supposed unreralistic expectations are which are imposed by the fans?

Shouldnt have got rid of Big Sam IMO, yes hes probably corrupt and a complete badger but i personally feel hes alot stronger than Keegan, and knows what it takes to build a team.
Keegan will crack under the pressure and there will be riots in the streets about the toon.
With shirts off of course.

Where do you personally think Newcastle should be in the table? top 4? Top 6? Top 10?

With the optimism at the beginning of the season having a wealthy new Owner and a Manager with proven track record with in the Premier League I had hoped for a top 8 finish with an outside chance of sneaking into the UEFA Cup through the Inter Toto

I don't think we'll go down and to be honest I don't know what the problem is. Looking at the players that are there they should be challenging for Europe but they just seem incapable of playing together.
TBH though I've had just about enough of it. Not just Newcastle but the way the premier league seems to be these days. I'm going back to my roots and switched to mainly following a league one team a little while ago. At least the players seem to have some passion
