Wondered whether anyone would know anything about Fords, cba to sign up to a Ford forum.
It's a 1995 Ford Fiesta MK3. When I was driving about earlier, it wouldn't go into 1st gear. I couldn't phsyically get it in pushing with both hands, and neither could my mate. So I pulled away in 2nd (all other gears worked fine). Next time I came to a stop, it just went straight in as if it had never happened
It does it very rarely, I just drove 35 miles to work (London traffic too so stop starting) and it did it once, about 100 yards from my work, so it really is rare it happens, and then u just pull away in 2nd.
It has never done it before today but now that I've feckin' sold it (somebody bought it earlier from eBay where I had it listed), it gets a problem
Anyone got a clue what the problem is? I told the guy about the problem and he's said he doesn't really want it if it needs the gearbox replaced, but surely it can't be gearbox if it goes in absolutely fine 99% of the time?
Help

All my corsa's have had this problem very very occasionally but it always goes in with a bit of jiggling and fiddling.
Infact my vectra has done this a couple times also.

Your's both sound more like linkage needing adjusting.
Mine just won't physically go in!

ah this is my teretory, ok the car you have.. Has it got a zetec engine? As 95 was around the time they were know as mk 3.5 if it has then you will be looking at bleeding the clutch slave cylinder on the box! If it has the push rod engine, 1.0, 1.3, 1.6, them it will be cable, tell me how does the clutch pedal go down? Smooth then just drops or smooth all the way?

I have been told it is the 3.5 yeah.
I'm not sure on the engine, it's a 1.1 Azura if that helps? I'll go check the clutch now, I can't actually remember...

turn the engine off, and if it goes into gear then, you know its a clutch fault
ps the badge on the front doesnt help either

I was thinking linkage, weird how it just randomly happened. I hate gear linkages, have to do the Corsa one too. I can't see this one being the same principle

ok its not a 3.5 its just a 3, you have a possable bent clutch fork. The gearbox will need to come out but its not a bad job.... The gearbox in a fiesta are prity strong they only start going wrong when you have a 150bhp rs turbo as the synchro can't cope with the added torque.

Oh fuck about lol. Guess I'll be selling it cheap! Is there anyway of looking externally at this fork to see if it's bent?
Why would it bend when I've been driving it carefully

It sold on eBay, but the guy doesn't want it anymore. I advertised it as a 2nd chance offer to the next highest bidder.
The guy who bought it seemed to forget it's a £250 car and not perfect lol
