does anyone else have a wering( soz cnt spell lol ) noise in 5th gear? its very anoying and it only does it in 5th. anyone got any ideas what it might be?

yh fort that but the garage said it was the waterpump lol i got mugged off. they charged 260 4 full service and new waterpump. n 2 stop the exhaust bangin on the axle but still the same as it was when it went in.

Its common for the waterpump to whine too at high speed, so i know where theyre coming from.
I do all my own repairs so ive no idea mate. But its a good 2 hour job

Are you talking about the thrust bearing for the clutch? I think its highly unlikely thats the problem because they make just as much noise in neutral as they do when your driving
If your sure its only happening in 5th and not related to the engine RPM or your speed then that points towards a gearbox problem
But rear bearings make a whirring/droning noise when they have had it and you only reallly notice them at higher speed. When its making the noise dip your coutch and let the engine idle without slowing the car down, see if the noise goes away

yh when u push the clutch down the noise stops n its only in fith gear n the faster u go the louder n anoyin it gets.

could possibly be a linkage problem? thats just my mind anyway but when you say the faster you go the louder it gets it does lead to engine problems, so i guess yeah it must be the pump.

na it def aint the pump becouse it was doing it before it got replaced and still the same. its in 5th gear n only 5th gear.

Top the box oil up, 5th is at the end of the cluster so will wear fastest when the box oil is low.
