My mate went to get out of his car but left it in gear (reverse) by accident.

He too his foot off the clutch hard and it stalled.

It now wont fire up and the glow plug lamp is flashing.

Done a little research and it seems the glowplug lamp doubles up as an EML.

Whats a likely outcome of this?

'97 Octavia 1.9 8v TDi (90PS IIRC)

Its recently had a T.belt fitted and is/was a good runner with 100k on it.

Cheers all.

I done this on my 306TD

In the end it was a loose connect that come off the glowplug relay next to the battery

Not quite sure what ur mates problem could be tho, Would probley be best going onto some sort of octavia owners club or some sort of garage that will know about them.

Done something similar once in a van, the sudden jolt of letting the clutch up made the timing belt jump over one tooth, so the timing was out. Ok once the garage sorted it out.

I was thinking it's skipped a tooth or 2.
